Day Four: Winter Summerland Mini-Golf and Cirque du Soleil
Thursday, February 24, 2005
We were a little ambitious earlier in the week when we said we'd go to Universal park today. I think we underestimated how much energy we'd expend at these theme parks. It is vacation, after all. No sense in killing ourselves! So, we decided to take it down a notch and spend the morning at one of the two Disney miniature golf courses. The Winter Summerland course is the closest to our resort so we went there.
I guess the theme here is that Santa is on vacation in the summer. It's cute. We had fun and Dad and Kelly tied for the win. I, of course, lost but was holding my own. Here are some pictures, self-explanatory, for your viewing pleasure:
The evening's entertainment was to be Cirque du Soleil at Downtown Disney.
This show, La Nouba, is exclusive to Walt Disney World. You can't see it anywhere else (unless you buy the DVD, of course). I'd never seen a Cirque du Soleil show before so I didn't really know what to expect. It was simply mesmerizing and if you get the opportunity to see one of these shows, don't miss it. My favorite act is performed by little Chinese girls who couldn't have been older than ten. It's hard to explain their act but it was just stunning.
And so, we wound up our whirlwind trip to Walt Disney World resorts and parks in Florida. You do honestly feel like you've left the world behind when you are in the Disney complex. We drove under the Walt Disney World sign when we arrived on Sunday and didn't drive out again until the following Friday morning. Amazing. But, before we go, here are a few more pictures of beautiful Coronado Springs:
The view outside our room, as is this picture as well:
The Palm Court from our floor and
from the ground floor.
Kelly, enjoying the hammock.
Better, larger versions of these pictures and more can be found at my yahoo page.
Thus ends another Disney vacation. You know we'll be back. Until then,
And see you real soon!
